ALCHEMIST
KASPAR DEROCHA
someday, you might find your hero
FULL NAME:
→ Kaspar Noah Derocha
AGE:
→ 25
SEX:
→ Male
BIRTH PLACE:
→ Zhou, Xing
NATIONALITY:
→ Half Xingese, a quarter Amestrian, and a quarter Cretan.
DATE OF BIRTH:
→ January 9th, 2015
→ Kaspar Noah Derocha
AGE:
→ 25
SEX:
→ Male
BIRTH PLACE:
→ Zhou, Xing
NATIONALITY:
→ Half Xingese, a quarter Amestrian, and a quarter Cretan.
DATE OF BIRTH:
→ January 9th, 2015
HEIGHT:
→ 5' 11"
WEIGHT:
→ 170lbs
PICTURE:
DESCRIPTION:
→ Whilst his fundamental appearance can be seen above, certain parts of Kaspar's visage require further clarification.
Kaspar's standardised garb is a bastardisation of the Amestrian military outfit, in spite of having no association with them whatsoever at this point in time. His father's old, never-worn blue coat -- the coat of the State Alchemist, that is -- hangs around his haunches, as do the matching navy bottoms and boots. However, what would a Derocha be without his own flair? Kaspar has added a crimson waistcoat-style undercoat. To those familiar with the outfit, they would see the resemblance, but it has been stripped carefully of the majority of is outdated Amestrian insignia which would suggest his allegiance.
Kaspar's voice is also notable. Whilst Xingese by birth, technically, his mother is a fluent linguist who spent many decades working as an ambassador for Emperors Aeries and Xun. His Cretan and Xingese are impeccable, and the former without any hint of an accent; his Amestrian is a little more rough, but still fluent in conversation.

PERSONALITY:
→ Kaspar is like his father in more ways than he realises. In all the fields Ayden excelled in, even from youth, so does his son; each born without a part of his body, a disability which they respectively overcame themselves in their own different ways. In the face of adversity and obstacles, each possesses the give-no-quarter determinism of the Derocha bloodline which permits them to never take no for an answer, and never accept failure as an option. But at the same time, he bears the blood of his mother within him, too; he is quietly respectful of that which he deems reverent, he has an overwhelming capacity for friendship and love, and loves sometimes to simply daydream and watch the world go by.
But perhaps that of his inherited traits which is so notorious is shared between both parents. Kaspar Derocha is a studious and fervent academic when it comes to alchemy. Doting over his father's abandoned library in their Xingese estate from a young age, his natural potential for the manipulation of alchemic energies became evident not long after Ayden took his leave. Just as in touch with the tectonic energies that power the science as his father -- if not more so -- the only thing Kaspar has lacking is his years of experience. At four, he could recreate mechanical circuits. At seven, create primitive alchemical robots. And at fifteen, he pioneered his own branch of alchemy, which allowed him to be rid of his cumbersome automail forever, with a biosynthetic replacement. To put it bluntly: Kaspar loves to study science; no pursuit is of greater importance to him.
He does not, however, fit into the category of the meek and silent academic. Kaspar should not be mistaken as a recluse or an eccentric revolutionary who seeks the solace of solitude to perform his work. No, precisely the opposite; Kaspar loves human contact, as his mother did, and as his father loathed. With the latter parent growing further and further disillusioned with mankind as his journeys continued, Kaspar has luckily not been sculpted by his father's negative views of humanity, and is a fluttering, charming, and approachable socialite. He genuinely enjoys spending time with people and forming bonds, and to those he loves, he is truly as loyal and stalwart a companion as they come.
But it takes a person of certain intuition to divine Kaspar any further. Someone who truly understands people from their interactions. Beneath him lies something tethered, something terrible. Whether the fault of nature or nurture, inherited from his father or caused by his absence, its presence is, for the handful hat experience it, certain. Internally, Kaspar is angry. He is resentful. And he is ruthless. There is hate that lies deep within that, unlike Ayden, he has tapped into perhaps only once or twice in his life so far. The question, then, is, will the events that he goes through teach him to overcome and vanquish this -- or to harness and channel this wrath, and add it to his already-formidable arsenal?
LOVE:
[SECOND TO NONE] - His doting mother, Jeu-Hee Han.
[KNOWLEDGE IS POWER] - Academic pursuits, specifically linguistics, literature, and science.
[INTERNAL APTITUDE] - Watching how things tick.
[MAGNUM OPUS] - The practice and development of alchemy.
[CHOW MEIN] - Xingese cuisine, specifically the noodles.
HATE:
[BROKEN] - The useless stump of his real arm.
[LANDLUBBER] - Seafood and sand.
[WHERE ART THOU?] - His father's sporadic disappearance.
[PARTY INDIFFERENCE] - Politics -- he has absolutely no desire to become involved with it, any of it.
[PRAGMATIST] - War without purpose -- combat and murder are somewhat more trivialised, but the conflicts of old, especially Ishval, greatly frustrate him.
ALIGNMENT:
→ Chaotic Neutral
STRENGTHS:
[EMPIRE'S CHILD] - Versed in a number of Xingese martial arts doctrines, thanks to his mother.
[COMBAT POLYMATH] - Trained with both firearms and traditional Xingese close-combat weapons.
[NO QUARTER] - Exceptionally determined in his journeys and pursuits.
[RUN SOLO] - A survivalist by experience, Kaspar has been taught by his mother how to function independently of others.
[THE DEROCHA TOUCH] - A friendly and charismatic conversationalist, Kaspar can always seem to start off-the-cuff chats and through them -- either intentionally or inadvertently -- manipulate people.
WEAKNESSES:
[PATERNAL PUZZLE] - Driven by an overwhelming desire to find his long-last father, everything ultimately comes down to this for Kaspar.
[CREED OF CAMARADERIE] - Whilst not an outwardly friendly individual, his loyalty and care to those he loves can very easily be manipulated.
[THE UNRAVELING] - The nature of his father's old business -- and the more he learns of it greatly troubles Kaspar.
[IMPRESSIONABLE YOUTH] - Kaspar's experiences shape him and his internalised moral quandaries and take serious root in his heart.

HISTORY:
→ Much of Kaspar Derocha's history has yet to be written. In 2015, he was born to parents Jeu-Hee and Ayden, veterans of the calamitous events of that decade in itself, including but not limited to the sack of Fort Briggs and the Jade Palace, the Deadlight Crisis, and the Esparian War, the pair were happy to get some peace and quiet. Both militants of their respective countries, they took some vacation time and settled down, the assassin having temporarily hung up his holsters when their first child came along in late 2013.
In 2015, however, their second child, Kaspar Noah, was born. He took his father's name, silver hair, and cerulean eyes, the State Alchemist smiling down into his crib from above. For all the lives he had destroyed, none had effected him quite so much as the single, solitary one he had helped truly create. For reasons unknown to Kaspar, however, before he was truly conscious of his own being, Ayden took his older sibling and left Xing in secret.
As he grew, now only child of single mother Jeu-Hee Derocha, née Han, he began to realise that perhaps his mother knew more of his father's disappearance than she had initially let on. When his potential as an alchemist became blindly apparent, she was both overjoyed and wracked with sadness at the reminder of her husband -- but as he grew and interrogated her regularly about the whereabouts of his father, Jeu-Hee would concede less and less, saying that he would find out when the time came.
Puberty passed, and though his curiosity was still awry, Kaspar had come to peace with the fact that he would learn nothing from his mother, a sterling diplomat in her own right. Between training with his uncle -- a soldier whose spare time he spent with Kaspar, unlike his mother who doted over ambassadorial papers every weekend -- and studying his alchemy books, the boy grew up fast, every passing moment looking and reminding her more and more of his father.
A certain aimlessness in life took Kaspar to university in the bowels of Zhou proper. At 22, he left with an honours degree in Biochemistry, having already developed a workaround for the useless stump of a forearm he had been left with. He returned home for a few years, gifted with ceremonial blessings from extended family -- including the precious "Qilin", a woven titanium carbide dual-bladed spear-staff as a coming-of-age gift from the Han clan in its entirety. But the question still sat rooted in the back of his mind, and one day, now truly of age, he sat his mother down and asked, as he had, so many times before. "Where's Dad?"
She smiled faintly. It was time for that question to be answered. But it wasn't a simple geographical response. And it wasn't an answer she could provide. She stood up, and pressed upon him the savings she had accumulated. "Go, Kaspar," She smiled up at him with those big brown eyes of hers that his father had so adored, her hair grey and the wrinkles around her eyes just as prominent as her son had always remembered them being. She could not answer the question for him. He would have to find an answer himself. "I'm sure your father's waiting."

TRIVIA:
→ Has not seen his father, Ayden Derocha, since he was two years old, in 2017.
→ Though he lost his left arm through a congenital developmental defect during his mother's pregnancy, he utilises alchemy -- not alkahestry -- effectively in order to manipulate a synthetic though biologically accurate conglomerate of materials to create fluid and changeable prostheses.
→ Takes his father's name rather than his mother's, but is still effectively a member of the Han clan.
→ Attached to his stump is a neurone-wired 'stump' of sorts, a metal disc covering with a small prong. The prong attaches to metal cylinder, which when locked in, activates a transmutation circle on the disc, morphing it into his arm.
LANGUAGES:
→ Xingese (navy) and Cretan (brown), with slightly worse Amestrian (palepurple).
