Homunculus
PRIDE
I just want the chance to let that little ballerina come dance
I know it's hard to find romance
When all your dreams slipped out your hands
I know it's hard to find romance
When all your dreams slipped out your hands

PERSONALITY:
You would think that one who can be called the embodiment of a single attribute should be simple to define, but that sadly is not the case here; Rose Invidia is a deeply complex young lady, as unknowably deep and mysterious as the shadows she commands, and as relatably human as any other fighter pilot, or generally, any other person her age.
Pride, however, is one of her defining traits, and it can be seen in her in a number of ways. She is ever-confident of herself, never failing to deny that she never fails, and always assuming the best possible outcomes for anything she does; she acts as if she can't be touched, as if bulletproof, and why not? Surely, one such as herself is just that good. Alternatively, that conceited, but that is another matter entirely. Not merely over-confident, she has a predisposition towards the belief that she is the focal point of the world; everything is prefaced with the first-person, to her, and everything belongs to her; they say Pride is the origin of the other sins, and when she doesn't get her way, it becomes far too apparent.
As well, she is also notably rigid in her loyalty to her personal code of conduct and morals, bound, if not by the law itself, by her own laws of self. Never kill but those who need to be killed, never take more than needs to be taken, children are to be protected at all costs, etc, etc.
Strict professionalism is another aspect that can be gleaned from meeting her, shining brightly in any and all facets of her work. Her plane is flown with expert precision, her calls are taken with the utmost directness, and when she has a hit, it is carried out swiftly and with all the coolness of a professional card counter. In short, everything she does is laced with a business-like air that seems to calm just as much as it puts others on edge.
And above all else, or should I say, underneath all else, Rose carries the heart of the dreamer, the hopeful fire in her eyes that brings to mind the Olympic torch, traveling many miles to reach a grand destination. That is Rose's view on her own life; a traveler on a journey of many miles and many years. Ever since she was a little girl, she's believed that if it was there, it was hers to claim, to reach out and grab, and she does so with relish, going for her dreams with nothing to lose, no hesitation, no second thoughts; to dream is what makes us human; to reach for those dreams, no matter how big they are, how small the dreamer- that's what makes us alive.

HISTORY:
Rose Feng Invidia was born to automail mechanic and former regent of the Ciel Dominion, Darkamaru Invidia V, and Xingese soprano singer, Yin Jing-Wei, in their estate on the outskirts of New Optain, Amestris. For the first year of her life, they remained there, however, when conflict broke out in Drachma, in 2017, the family moved back to the Ciel Dominion, fearing future unrest that may strike closer to home than would be acceptable.
There, she was privy to the prestigious education of the very rich or very famous, beginning various lessons with tutors from the age of four or five. As well, she, alongside her father, was a frequent visitor to the royal palace, often exploring its catacombs and maze-like hallways as her father conversed with the king.
The king, however, one day, struck an interest in her, allowing her an opportunity for the first time to talk to him at length, alone; it was a striking experience, and not one she'd forget even in adulthood.
They spoke for quite a while, and while most of his words were lost in the passage of time, unaccounted for by the child's mind that perceived them, she could never quite lose the image of the aging king, hair greying, with wrinkles well-formed on a face that time had not been so kind to; a mad grin always in his eyes, if not worn on his mouth. A frightening visage to one so young, and it was no wonder to her, years later, when the king's public appearances declined, until the most recent five or six years, in which he primarily ruled from the confines of his quarters (if one could refer to that as ruling.)
But aside from her recollections of King Wolfgang, there was another man she met there, no more than a week or two later, and hardly a day past her 6th birthday; she remembered him even more vividly, and while he didn't seem nearly so terrifying in appearance, it seemed as if he had altered the very air around them, the corridor turning to ice, the atmosphere to stone- she stood, wide-eyed not with childlike curiosity, but with absolute dread, looking up at this man, a man who she should not have been terrified of; indeed, he couldn't have been more remarkably plain, if he had tried to emulate the effect of such. But his kind smile and impeccably time-passed face could do nothing but increase her unease at his presence.
The man spoke, and she listened closely.
She was given something; he called it a gift, something Wolfgang had given him, which he was giving to her in order to

And so, at the age of fourteen, Rose enlisted in the Ciel Dominion's top of the line flight school, swiftly becoming an astounding fight pilot, and three years later, served in the great Ciel-Esparian War of 2033.
But, not long afterwards, she began to notice strange things happening whenever she was in shadowy areas; she felt a strange sense of calm and empowerment; enlightened by darkness, one may say. However, it was only when a mugger shot her in the chest, and she seemingly miraculously recovered from the wound that she found out the truth- she was no mere human. Indeed, she learned from her father, himself once gifted with the very same abilities she possessed, decades ago, in 2010, that she was a Homunculus. The Homunculus, Pride...
