ABILITIES & ARMS ALEKSEI KASPAROV'S ULTIMATE ABILITY
calm, collected & commandin'
NAME:→ Ultimate Shield TYPE:→ Ultimate Ability TIER:→ Tier 1 METHOD:→ Internal Philosopher's Stone. VISUAL:BRIEFING:→ Greed's Ultimate Shield, whilst a homunculus ability, finds its basis in alchemy. Through the simple rearranging of the carbon atoms in his body, Aleksei is able to harden his body to become as tough as diamond and nigh-impenetrable, or he can loosen the atomic structure to cause it to become as weak as graphite. Unfortunately, being new to this entire thing, Aleksei can currently only utilise this with certain limitations. Firstly, Aleksei can only change the structure of one limb at a time. At this point, this only covers his legs, arms, and head -- he can't change the structure of his torso, as it requires too much untrained concentration. However, these retain their weight, and his hands, much like the first iteration of Greed, do taper into claws. Secondly, Aleksei cannot consciously trigger this ability. It happens of its own accord in times of strong emotion, when adrenaline is running riot through his bloodstream, and is highly volatile. Conversely, at times of extreme sadness or moments of bleak clarity and/or depression, Aleksei's body may take on a mind of its own once more and weaken his molecular structure. Finally, use of this ability over an extended period of time will (at this level of experience with it) incapacitate Aleksei shortly after use, and may cause him to 'see red' in full. aleksei kasparov's EQUIPMENT
see ya later, innovator NAME: AK-12MTYPE: Assault Rifle BRIEFING: The AK-12 is alone a sterling example of Drachman craftsmanship in weapons technology. One of the older models of its type, it is in standard use throughout Drachman and Xingese militaries. The Modular variant -- the variant Aleksei possesses -- is slightly different. Alongside his two underbarrel attachments, it comes with a plethora of rail, sight, and muzzle tweaks, and three different fire modes (semi-auto, fully-auto, and three-round-burst). Aleksei's gun is prefigured before missions into one of the five following loadouts. Standard Loadout: Sight: Reflex Sight (2x magnification) Underbarrel: Laser Sight Stock: Fixed Barrel: Muzzle Brake Clip: 30-round Ammunition: Full Metal Jacket Urban Loadout: Sight: Iron Sights Underbarrel: XM26 Stock: Folding Barrel: -- Clip: 25-round Ammunition: Jacketed Hollow Point Danger Close Loadout:Sight: ACOG Sight (4x magnification) Underbarrel: GP34 Stock: Fixed Barrel: Muzzle Brake Clip: 90-round Ammunition: Armor-Piercing Stealth Loadout:Sight: Iron Sights Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip Stock: -- Barrel: Suppressor Clip: 15-round Ammunition: Subsonic Marksman Loadout: Sight: PSO-1 (8x magnification) Underbarrel: Bipod Stock: Extended Barrel: Muzzle Brake Clip: 20-round Ammunition: Overpressure NAME: HK45TYPE: Pistol BRIEFING: Chambered in .45 ACP with a ten-round magazine, the HK45 is the only sidearm that Aleksei uses. With a ready-threaded barrel to fit a suppressor, Aleksei's sidearm is less modular than his rifle, only fitted with either subsonic or hollow point rounds at any given moment, and only the former on stealth missions. It has saved his life when his AK has run dry more than he has cared to count, and taken almost as many lives as its larger counterpart. NAME: GP-34TYPE: Underbarrel Grenade Launcher BRIEFING: Fitted to the lower railing of his rifle when necessary, the GP-34 is the most recent variant of the original GP-25 caseless 40mm grenade launcher, developed in the late 1970s. Used in Drachman special operations for as long as most can remember, this versatile, muzzle-loading grenade launcher is tailored specifically to the AK-series of rifles. It's a single-shot weapon with a standard grenade launcher leaf sight that can be fired independently with a second trigger. Aleksei carries the following 40mm grenade types: - High Explosive
- Flashbang
- Incendiary
- Smoke
- CS Gas
NAME: XM26TYPE: Underbarrel Shotgun BRIEFING: Much like the GP-34, the XM26 is -- for close-combat encounters -- fitted to the underbarrel rail of the AK-12M. It's a 5-round, bolt-action, magazine-loaded shotgun, the barrel of which sits completely parallel to that of the upper actual rifle. Though originally a Cretan design developed for the M4 series of rifles, the XM26 has been retroactively redeveloped over the past thirty years to work with certain AK-series models too. As it takes the versatile 12-gauge round, Aleksei can carry a handful of different ammunition type depending on what the situation might need. - 00 Buck
- Slug
- Breaching Shot
- XREP
- Flechette
- "Bean Bag"

HOMUNCULUS ALEKSEI KASPAROV
You are the unforecasted storm
FULL NAME: → Aleksei Anatoly Kasparov
AGE: → 31.
RACE: → Homunculus; human-based.
SEX: → Male
BIRTH PLACE: → Burya, Drachma
NATIONALITY: → Drachman.
DATE OF BIRTH: → July 12th, 2008
PICTURE:HEIGHT:→ 6' 1". WEIGHT:→ 205lbs. DESCRIPTION:→ Aleksei's attire can vary massively dependent upon the situation. Casually, he will wear a hoodie, jeans, and sneakers, but his line of work oft requires he wear a number of different things tailored to the situation. For example, an infiltration or reconnaissance job might require he wear a three-piece suit, whilst an urban breach-and-clear task will, of course, have him in full fatigues and a flak jacket. Aleksei is not a linguist by nature. His voice is comparatively smooth for the majority of Drachmans, however, when he speaks in any other language, or to those typically unfamiliar with the standard gravelly tone in which his mother tongue is spoken, he speaks in a harsh, thick, and at times, nigh-on impregnable accent. PERSONALITY:→ Whilst he can be considered an inherently good person, Aleksei is no paragon of virtue. He is ultimately a flawed and troubled individual whose experiences have shaped him. Whilst by day he serves as a precise, accurate, and utterly loyal extension of his nation's hand, standing by Mother Drachma for better or for worse, the moment he punches out, everything starts to unravel. This is where Aleksei's true personality begins to take hold. Operationally, he is fluid, he is conscious, and he is aware; however, when he steps out of the role of Corporal Kasparov and just becomes Aleksei, everything else gets the volume turned down, drastically so. He is ignorant, and by no fault of his own. Blissfully so, and it seems to be a choice -- even if an unconscious one -- but Aleksei loves to numb himself as best he can and just let the world float on by, collected in his eclectic bubble of indifference. It is, of course, this process of numbing oneself which is of particular significance. Aleksei is self-indulgent, but not through the standard luxuries of champagne and caviar. No, he gets his kicks by being self-destructive. Whilst drugs stay out of the picture for the pure occupational necessity -- though, of course, he has dabbled beforehand -- Aleksei's evening passions oft centre around a bottle of something strong. A daredevil by any other name, his passion for self-destruction rears its head in every aspect of his life except his personal finances, as one would expect from Greed himself. The drink is the most prominent, but the classic model of the aloof alcoholic with the fast car who slowly grinds down through attrition every shot at every relationship he ever would have had. But Aleksei doesn't do any of this intentionally. Whilst externally his decisions range from good to a little dubious, most who come into contact with him argue that he's a good and loyal person who, whenever he does something one could consider 'wrong', is simply following orders. Everything abhorrent he does, he reminds himself, he does in the line of duty. His recent moral crisis, however, of the past couple of years, has brought him into a habit of thinking more and more about it. How can he strive to be a good man if he does bad things? If he kills on command? If he works only to undermine a nation of others? His moral compass has gone haywire as of late, and the introduction of the morally-contested Philosopher's Stone to his being, unwitting or not, does not help. There is but one thing that Aleksei's personality holds concrete, however. For as long as he can remember, he's been a hoarder of all things material. His mother called him Magpie as a term of affection for one reason and one alone: Aleksei is greedy. He will negotiate for every last penny he can out of a deal, and the change at his very core of late will only catalyse this. Human Aleksei would have never so much as considered stealing or killing or pillaging to get his material wealth. But now? His fixation with Greed is slowly consuming him, and he can feel the desires lurking in the back of his mind. One can no longer be so sure. LOVE:[IT'S IN THE NAME] - One would expect an avatar of avarice, unwilling or not, to have a love for all things material. From banknotes to precious stones, if it's worth anything, he wants it. A bit like a magpie. [EXPLOSIVE VARIETY] - Aleksei's a soldier, and like any good soldier, he appreciates a fine weapon. Any strong or varied selection of firearms or explosives will get him hard as anything. [BOOZEHOUND] - Aleksei's job, as much as he loves it, has him working consistently in a high-stress environment. Who wouldn't want a few drinks every now and then? [NEED FOR SPEED] - Greed's desire for all things material doesn't just stop at wealth, weapons, and drink. A particular niche love of his is classic cars, and though he doesn't own one, he later hopes to retire and set up a restoration business. HATE:[THE UNIMAGINABLE] - Aleksei wishes that in his tenure on this Earth, he may never experience the misfortune that some do of being truly impoverished. This is less a prolific manifest hate, but more just a conceptual one, and even then, it's more fearful than ruthless. Aleksei hates poverty. [INDIFFERENCE OF GOOD MEN] - Aleksei never really sits down to philosophise on the nature of morality. He's pretty sure he's an okay kind of guy, but aside from that, doesn't lend too much thought to it. He does, however, have a special place in his heart to despise not the people who fight for their own ideology, wrong as it may be, but those who simply don't care about the moral quandaries of it all, or, worse, those who profiteer. [NO HONOUR] - There are those who exist who deserve their wealth. Those who have worked for it. From thief to CEO, from the very bottom rungs of society to its highest and most luxurious echelons, there are those who deserve every penny. It is those who truly don't that Greed, skewed as his judgment may be, despise. Those who have gotten an easy way out. Why? Because, simply enough, he didn't. [TWO-PINT TOMMY] - More of a real peeve than a full-on hate, Aleksei doesn't get on well with people who can't handle their liquor. No bonus points if they then decide to attempt conversation with him, either. ALIGNMENT:→ Chaotic Good STRENGTHS: [MILITARY CHAMELEON] - Rigorous training and nearly a decade of experience has tempered Aleksei into the learned FSB agent he is today. Whether it's out-and-out anti-terrorism work, counter-intelligence, recon, or infiltration, he'll do it, and, nine times out of ten, pull it off with aplomb, and get results. [VERSATILE TRAINING] - Alongside rigorous firearms training, Aleksei's a dab hand with a knife, and is, as with all Drachman special forces, well-versed in the art of Systema, the signature martial art of a long-since disbanded arm of the military. [THE INTUITION OF TERROR] - After working in this specific field for so long, with a counter-terrorism specialty, Corporal Kasparov has done more than just kill and maim his adversaries. No; enough time dealing with them has granted him limited insight into the mind of the insurgent. Versed in terrorist and guerilla tactics, he can often predict the patterns and movements of adversaries in a number of different situations, be they urban, vehicular, or over more varied terrain. [NO KILL LIKE OVERKILL] - At his disposal, Aleksei has a series of conventional ballistic firearms which are, together, suited to almost any situation one could conceive of -- and they all fit handily on his person. Versatility and variability are key to his line of work, and Aleksei is on top form with both of them. [SCARLET CORE] - As a homunculus, a Philosopher's Stone sits embedded at the very core of Aleksei's being. Though is unaware of it as of yet, alongside granting him the signature Ultimate Shield of the Greed of old, Aleksei also possesses a massively accelerated healing factor, increased strength and speed, and cannot be killed conventionally, instead possessing a certain amount of "lives" that must be shaved through before he will die. These will start at 20, be counted here, and will increase by 5 passively every 30 posts as the Stone becomes more resilient. When the counter reaches 0, Aleksei will die permanently, and his Stone will shatter. LIVES REMAINING -- 20 WEAKNESSES:[IGNORANCE IS BLISS] - For a supposed counter-terrorist agent, Aleksei is almost unimaginably imperceptive and, consequently, ignorant. He will often not recognise people he knows as he passes them in the street, and can tend just to block out things he doesn't see with focus and clarity. This of course is why he still doesn't know that he's a homunculus. [DRAGONHOARD] - Threaten any aspect of his material gains or property -- the hoarder that he is -- and Aleksei will go batshit crazy and lose all direction. Whether this is good or bad all depends on the situation, but it'll get him to see red, either way. [AT BOTH ENDS] - Aleksei's work is physically tenuous. He sleeps an average of four hours a night, even when he's not on-duty. He drinks most evenings and trains intensely most mornings. As much as he tells himself he's feeling fine -- and as much as the Philosopher's Stone he unwittingly bears within him will keep him healthy -- he's still burning the candle at both ends, and it takes its toll. The fatigue and the sleep deprivation inevitably soon lead to stress. [UNSTABLE CRUX] - Aleksei was not informed about the changes his body would undergo when he unwittingly took the Philosopher's Stone into his body, nor has he fully realised the extent of its presence or ability. Essentially, its use is, for the moment, tethered to Aleksei's emotional state. Intense rage and the release of adrenaline into his bloodstream will provoke his flesh to harden, whereas sadness, bleak clarity, and moments of depression will cause his flesh to soften and begin to flake off through simple movement and upon touch -- exceptionally painfully so at that. HISTORY: → Greed's history is not, as one would expect of a homunculus, spotted with tales of bloodshed, loss, and war. He was not born a homunculus, but instead a human, in Burya in 2008, barely a couple of years before the Drachman turmoil and their association with RIOTE began to bubble to the surface. Barely eighteen months after his birth, the Kasparov family, a prominent name in the Drachman Home Office, became refugees, fleeing to the west to Creta, where they took shelter for another six years, which is the only reason Aleksei has any knowledge of the language.
When RIOTE finally dropped off of the radar, and tyrannical Sekretar Vanity was displaced, the Kasparov family felt somewhat safer in their move back to Drachma -- this time, settling in the capital, Zavoyev. However, under the new political regime, Drachman children were taught to be proud for their country, and defend it as staunchly as they could -- a standard nationalist response for any country weakened by a recent history filled with such hate that had created so many wounds that were still raw, and destroyed so many lives.
This nationalism took root deeper than one would think. As he grew, he took the ideology to heart; and began to resent his parents for running like cowards, both influential upper-middle class political figures at the time. As a response to this, at eighteen, after leaving school -- having not been particularly academic, anyway -- Aleksei turned instead to the military to support his country's credo. Weapons technology through Drachma had been advancing throughout the later 2010s and earlier 2020s, and now, they needed men to hold the groundbreaking, state-of-the-art equipment they now had the resources to produce en masse.
Aleksei trained for six months to join the navy and station upon a ship on Drachma's coast. He was three days away from shipping out when the call came for him to visit the infirmary; his medical discharge papers had already been signed. Flat-footed. Stopped him from serving on any seafaring vessel. A combination of adolescent anger he couldn't direct anywhere and obstacles still coming up in front of him long after he had surpassed the final hurdle only drove this nationalism deeper into his core -- and Aleksei returned to Zavoyev, to the judging, patronising eyes on his parents.
He lasted five days of their mutterings of "I told you so" and "you're a better student than you are a soldier" before he applied to the state police. They didn't care that he was flat-footed.
A mixture of personally-motivated fire and determinism with what seemed to be a natural aptitude for this line of work proved his parents wrong. At 23, he had the most impressive three-year arrest record in his entire platoon of twenty; by the summer of 2032, the meetings with officials had all taken place. His transfer papers put him there at the end of May. The state police had been a brief, three-year stepping stone on his journey to truly serving his country as a member of the Drachman Federal Security Service, or FSB.
As a member of an intelligence agency that doubles as a counter-terrorist rapid-response force, his first kill nine months in was a little late for some. The advice his superiors gave him was just to take a wallet full of rubles to a bar and drink it down; because no-one wanted him on the squad if they knew he was seeing a shrink before and after every op, mandatory or otherwise. His impeccable career record carried through; and his parents even gave him the admission that he was right, and that they were proud that he was serving his country, before long. Part of him recognised the desperation in their eyes, their longing for him to just stop this course of trying to prove himself as independently nationalist with such fervence.
The rest of him was too stubborn to let it go.
The drinking carried on outside the job and things began to unravel. Eight years, now, he's been a member of the FSB, and six of those eight, he's been steadily destroying his liver. But it was only a few weeks ago that Aleksei stumbled out of his choice local bar in the early hours of the morning, slipped, and fell down a dislodged drain cover into the Zavoyev sewers. It was only a few weeks ago that he came to with no ladder, no way out. And it was only a few weeks ago that, sitting at the bottom of that river of filth, that tiny crimson jewel caught his eye...
Drunkenly, he had decided that this 'ruby' would make him rich. That it would give him power and strength, and make him the most formidable FSB agent that Drachma had ever seen. It was, in fact, whilst he was on the way to the only 24-hour pawn shop he knew -- which was not, at all, in fact, open 24 hours a day -- that he tripped, fell onto his back, and launched the red stone up into the air...
...just moments before it landed at the back of his throat, and sent itself plummeting down into his stomach. TRIVIA: → Still doesn't know he's a homunculus. → Has worked for the Drachman FSB for over eight years, with a total of thirty-two confirmed insurgent kills. → Only retains the rank of Corporal due to his nature as an asset to the FSB as a whole. → Receives a tidy bonus packet every quarter due to his nature as a 'specialist' for the Drachman military.
LANGUAGES: → Aleksei speaks Drachman (purple) fluently, and a spot of Cretan (slategray) in a thick Drachman accent every now and then.
